Water Skiing Boats

By John Felderman

Water skiing is a very common hobby today. It is popular in many regions throughout the world. One of the most important factors for water skiers is their boat.

Ski boats come in a variety of shapes and styles. Usually a boat for water skiing has a very shallow hull. This gives it a very shallow draft. Another very common feature is the inboard motor (As opposed to an outboard motor) which creates much less water disturbance allowing the water skier to go faster. Water skiing relies heavily on the ski boat as the water skier is pulled in order to gain speed and be able to perform a variety of water skiing stunts. These ski stunts include such acrobatic feats as flips, turns and even ski jumps. A variety of moves are possible limited only by the ability of the water skier. While outboard motors used to be very common in water skiing, the advances in technology have effectively ended its role in the sport of water skiing.

The recent introduction of jet powered skiing boats has created unique and challenging areas for water skiers. The speeds attained by these ski boats is so fast that only experienced water skiers should attempt to ski behind one of these water skiing craft. The water skiing boat driver is also a very important part of the skiing experience. Skiers and boat drivers must maintain some sort of contact, usually visual in nature, so that if the water skier should happen to fall or have other problems, they can work together to avoid skiing injuries. The water skiing boat and its driver are also responsible for staying on the course set up in skiing tournaments and skiing championships. The boat's driver or captain is responsible for lining the boat and the skier up together whether in skiing slalom courses or for water ski jumps. The water skiing boat driver and the water skier have to work together as a team with the water skiing boat as their common tool.

A Little Care Will Keep Your Boat in Top Notch Condition

By Paul MacIver

The story of boats is as old as the human civilization. Theres reference of a boat Noah's ark in the Bible. Noah's ark was the boat built by the Biblical character Noah to save his family and animals from the Flood. Gondolas were the traditionally used boats in Venice.

Today, a boat is considered as one of the major tools of watercraft. A boat is a small vessel for traveling on water. It comprises of one or more buoyancy structures called hulls, and some system of propulsion such as a screw, oars, paddles, a setting pole, a sail, paddlewheels or a water jet.

The front of a boat is called the bow or prow and the rear of the boat is called the stern. The right side is starboard and the left side is port. The boat toilet is called the heads.

A boat with a housing compartment is called a houseboat or barge. A pontoon boat is a flat-bottomed boat that serves as a dock or as a floating structure to support a bridge. The pontoon boat is also known as a party boat. It is constructed of round tubes (called sponsons) that are attached to the outside, bottom edge of a large flat deck. It has a safety railing that surrounds the deck from all sides. The helm station is placed either in the middle of the deck or off to one side. Pontoon boats may be furnished with lawn furniture, and some deluxe pontoon boats may have upholstered seating, a dinette table, a roof, a cooler, and maybe even a head (toilet).

A recreational boat is used for water sporting activities or other recreational purposes.

A sailboat uses the wind normally to propel the boat instead of an engine.

Boat Maintenance:

People fond of water sports or water adventures keep their own boats. Taking good care of ones boat is very important. Good care and maintenance enhances the life of a boat and saves a lot of money also.

The following are some boat care tips:

The boat engine should be flushed each time after its used in salt water.

The underneath of the boat should be washed to prevent salt buildup.

The entire boat should be washed using soap and water, after every single use.

A non-skid cleaner should be used to scrub the deck.

The boat should be completely dried after washing.

The boat should be covered properly with a boat cover.

The boat should be waxed every few months to protect the finish from stains and UV damage.

Boat parts and accessories should be checked regularly, and defective parts should be replaced.

A boat cover is a very important accessory. When your boat is not in use, a cover will keep it protected from harsh weather and wearing. People use various boat covers and boat tops to protect their boats. Custom boat covers, bimini tops and canvas boat covers are some quite commonly used covers.

Hints On jetski for sale

Some of the more advanced inflatable boats, like Zodiac's Fastroller, feature a special High-Pressure inflatable air floor. Made of two layers of fabric, connected by thousands of tiny "drop stitches", this floor can be inflated to a high pressure, creating a floor with rigidity equal to sheet of plywood a fraction of the weight. Best of all, they can be completely deflated and stowed in only minutes without removing any parts. This high pressure air floor is softer on knees and backsides too.

Pleasure craft made in Canada, or imported to Canada, after August 1, 1981, must have a HIN marking. The HIN must be on the outside of the transom on the starboard side, or as close to that area as possible if marking on the transom is not practical. If you can no longer obtain a HIN from the manufacturer, or if the vessel is home-built, request an application package from a Transport Canada Centre to obtain one.

For most people, it is very important for them to keep anything they own on good condition. Besides, the things you own are not just things that you should leave around and not care about, it is an investment. Always remember that you got what you have because you worked hard for it. It is only rational that you should properly take care of it in order for you to enjoy it for a long time.

For example, your car is an investment. It takes you anywhere you go whenever you want. So, in order to keep it working for you, you have to keep it maintained by visiting your mechanic every now and then to keep it on optimum condition. This is the same thing you should do for your jet ski. Jet skis are expensive equipments that can provide you with a lot of fun and excitement. Not only that you will look really cool when you ride your jet skis on your favorite summer lake, but it will also provide you with an exhilarating experience that will definitely fulfill your need for speed.

First of all, jet skis are made to go fast in water. It is also a type of watercraft that is considered to be the world's most battered marine vehicle. Although the design and the mechanics are made to endure abuse and high speed, you still have to keep it properly maintained in order for it to give you more excitement for a very long time.

Jet skis not only go through punishment when you use it in water, it is even aggravated that after a long day of being in the water, most people neglect to store it the proper way. Usually, they just leave it in places where elements, such as wind, rain and excessive sun can contribute to the overall performance of your machine.

As you cruise down your favorite ocean with your jet ski, it will accumulate dirt, grime and salt that will lessen the overall performance of the jet ski. It is important that you have to remove all these elements that is inside the jet ski in order for you to not only keep in optimum condition for maximum performance, but also to lengthen its life.

So, here are some tips that you can use to properly maintain your jet ski in prime condition and let you have more fun with it by maintaining its performance as well as letting it have longer life. Normally, people will experience problems with their jet skis if not properly maintained. Because of this, they will need parts to replace the ones in the jet ski that is damaged. However, with all the different models of jet skis available today, you may find it very hard to get a part that can be compatible to the jet ski. This is why you have to prevent the jet ski from being damaged as much as possible.

After using the jet ski, it is recommended that you should wash it with fresh water and let it air dry. Do not leave it out on direct sunlight as it can damage it. Cover it with a protective fabric. You can consider getting a jet ski cover that is already widely available in the market today that can be effective in protecting your jet ski from direct sunlight and dust.

Visiting a mechanic once in a while can let you effectively maintain the mechanical aspect of the jet ski. They will be able to remove any dirt, weeds and grime that have accumulated inside the engine or inside the jets.

These are the things you should remember when you are maintaining your jet ski. With proper maintenance, you will be able to use your jet ski for a long time and cruise along your favorite lake or beach with your optimized and properly maintained jet ski.

A Day Boat (dayboat) is exactly what it says - it is a boat usually used for Day Trips and therefore tends not to have any accommodation on board. Examples of uses of Day Boats would be to go for a trip along the English South Coast or go fishing. Some DayBoats will have sail as well as motors giving the choice of power depending on the conditions. Prices for these boats varies from less than 1,000 for a used craft from a boat brokerage, to over 50,000 for a high end specification. The Jeanneau Cap Camarat is a good example of a motor day boat and can be acquired for less than 20,000 second hand whilst the Hawk 20 is a good example of a sailing dayboat

Most jet boats look and perform like bowriders with spacious seating in front and back and a swim platform. Builders promote a propulsion system almost completely enclosed inside the hull, reducing the risk of damage from impact with obstacles or the bottom. They are fast, maneuverable, offering an exciting ride and a fun tubing platform.

To All Cruisers - Information On Cruising Expenses.

Sat, 22 Dec 2007 20:35:45 +0200
This is not "how much does it cost to cruise." This isn't "How much did you spend in Fiji?" This is, "what do you spend on a monthly or weekly basis in the various ports while cruising?" It doesn't have to be exact, and shouldn't be overblown, but this is intended to buttress the arguments of many destination-based businesses that cruising sailors are good for the local economy. This is a subject near and dear to my heart, because it isn't just Fiji who discounts the cruising sailor as a benefit to the economy, and it's the powerful resorts who get the ear of government in most economies dependent upon the tourist dollar.
